Operating principles of the Disc Separator RTA 50-51-076
The disc separator with double centripetal pump is used for the separation of mixtures composed of a liquid (oil) and pasty substances (soapstock or gums), with simultaneous removal of the solids contained in the mixture. The centripetal pump discharges the separated components of the process liquid. In the centripetal pump the rotational energy of the process liquid in the bowl is converted into pressure which conveys the components as follows:
-The light component (oil) is discharged by the lower centripetal pump at a pressure of 3 bar maximum.
– The heavy component (soapstock or a similar pasty substance or wash water or liquid soap) is discharged from the bowl under pressure by the upper centripetal pump. It flows off by gravity through the lower discharge.
